The following are major events in which you will want to take part. Be sure to mark your calendar!

Annual Events

The DISCIPLES ON THE JOURNEY FOR TEENS AND JR. HIGH - faith sharing will begin on first Sunday before Ash Wednesday.  All of the faith-sharing sessions will be on Sundays. The session will last 1½ hours and will take place at the Holy Family C. C. D. classrooms. They will tentatively begin from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. There will be a sign up for anyone interested in leading a small group. There will be two leaders per small group. The ages will include 6th through 12 grades.

SEARCH RETREATS in Corpus Christi for ages 16 - 18 yrs.  The weekend starts on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. This is a great opportunity to meet other Catholics your own age. Take a break form your hectic schedule to pray and reflect. Ask and discuss faith questions and talk about your faith with others, or just get a little bit crazy and a have lot of fun!

JR HIGH GATHERINGS - There are various activities planned monthly for all the Jr. High students. Watch the bulletin and flyers posted in the church for updated information.

The PASSION REENACTMENT (WAY OF THE CROSS) - will take place for all the C. C. D. classes on the last Wednesday and Sunday class.  Another performance is schedule on Good Friday following the Service. All youth are encouraged to participate in this drama.

SWEETHEART SUPPER - This annual fundraiser is for adults that would like to treat a loved one to wining and dining. Teens wait the tables and are at your service. It's a great evening for all.

THE HIGH SCHOOL SPECTACULAR - is a day-long spiritual experience that you won't want to miss. Teens from all over the diocese gathers for a day of activities, food, entertainment and an awesome keynote speaker. Liturgy, dinner and dance are included.

THE SERVICE PROJECTS - Various service projects take place throughout the year for all ages.

The N. E. T. RETREAT will take place in January this year. Check bulletin and flyers for dates. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear the testimonies and trials of young adults. The National Evangelization Team will be in our area so don't miss this spiritual experience.

THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY RELAY FOR LIFE.  This year they are asking for each participant to raise $50.00.

S. T. A. R - Students Taking Action for Respect - Meet monthly

S. T. A. R. CONFERENCE AT TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY IN SAM MARCOS - Teens interested in becoming advocates for the Students Taking Action for Respect will attend this conference to further their training with effective leadership and presentation skills. At this conference teens attend workshop which educate them on dating violence, sexual harassment and other topics that teens are faced with in this day and time.

HOLY FAMILY'S FESTIVAL - is scheduled for Sunday, April 10th. The youth are responsible for the Flip-It booth, Bean Bag Toss and Clink-O. I will need some volunteers to facilitate these areas at the festival.

CAMP DAVID - at the Spiritual Renewal Center will begin with staff preparation in early June. The actual camp for the youth will be that Sunday through Friday. Then staff will finish up with duties on that Saturday. The young adult staff for this camp is required to participate in the leadership training sponsored by the Diocese of Victoria.

STEUBENVILLE SOUTH YOUTH CONFERENCE in Alexandria, Louisiana will be in June. Information will be sent out soon to all leaders and young adults ages 15-19. It is very important that you sign up for this retreat on time.

NET DISCIPLESHIP WEEK is a retreat for high school ages at the Spiritual Renewal Center. This retreat will take place in mid-June. I highly recommend this retreat. The National Evangelization Team facilitates it. This team of young adults travels all over the states sharing their faith and testimonies with young adults.

TEEN ACTS RETREAT - This retreat is designed for high school teens ages 13 and up. It will be held at the Disciples Conference Center near Gonzales or Spiritual Renewal Center in the summer . Teens that are interested in being part of the ACTS team need to contact Judy Seiler, Youth Minister.

YOUNG ADULT ACTS RETREAT - This retreat is designed for YOUNG ADULTS AGES 18 TO 26. It will be held at the Disciples Conference Center near Gonzales.  Anyone  interested in being part of the ACTS team must have attended a previous retreat and under the age of 40.  Contact Judy Seiler, Youth Minister.

COLORADO ROCKY MOUNTAIN HIGH RETREAT in Colorado is scheduled for July. Only six teens from each parish in the Diocese are allowed to attend this retreat.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL - takes place in the mornings and preparation for V. B. S. will be the week beforehand. We will need all leaders to take part in this. Great for those needing service hours.

ANNUAL SUMMER EL SHADDAI RETREAT - is located at the El Shaddai Ranch. Teams course, canoeing, volleyball, swimming, companionship and fellowship. Watch for details!!

WORLD YOUTH DAY  2008.

REGION 10 YOUTH CONFERENCE OR THE NATIONAL CATHOLIC YOUTH CONFERENCE - These conference are biennial and are for high school students from regional diocese or from all over the nation.  Region 10 and the NCYC  are exciting 3 to 4-day experience of prayer, community, and empowerment for Catholic teenagers and their adult chaperones. The schedule includes sessions, workshop addressing a wide variety of topics including Catholic Spirituality and prayer, social justice issues, sexuality, and leadership. There are also opportunities for reconciliation, liturgy, and special activities such as concerts, a dance, and comedy club. Teen will recognize their role in the larger Catholic Church.

YOUTH EXTRAVAGANZA - (previously the Jr. High Fiesta) Come and join other Jr. High (and older) ages for a day of spiritual excitement, fun, laughter and talks from nationally known speakers. Teen leaders from all over the Diocese help facilitate this day and share their love for Christ.

HOLY EVE - This is an annual parish event that is scheduled on October 31st. Families are invited for free chili pies and other refreshments. Youngster place games and a saintly costume contest is the highlight of the evening. There is no charge for this event that is put on by the youth of the parish.

CHRISTMAS GIVING TREE LOCK-IN - Wow! What a night this is! All the gifts from the Giving Tree are sorted and prepared for delivery the next morning by all the teens that attend this event. The hard work is very gratifying and memorable. The evening includes the fun 'White Elephant' gift exchange which you never know what you will bring home.

CHRISTMAS PAGEANT AND MASS - This beautiful mass is held on Christmas Eve at the 6:00 p.m. Mass. Children from the parish re-enact Christ's birth throughout the gospel reading. Teens participate in the reading, ushering, altar servers, music and gift bearers.

OPEN GYM - Wednesday's from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to go to the 6:00 p.m. and meet in the gym for basketball, volleyball, foosball, ping-pong and other activities. Youth under the ages of 13 yrs must have adult supervision.

YOUTH MASS - Every 3rd Sunday at the 11:00 a.m. Mass - Youth are involved in the readings, ushering, gift bearers. Music for this Mass is performed by  Jay Howard, Larry Lahodney, Pat Uresti, and Ross Roussel.
