Mr. Alan Kristynik

Alan was raised in Garwood, Texas and attended St. Mary's Catholic Church and School in Nada, Texas. Alan began playing the trumpet at age 11 at Garwood Elementary. His Grandfather, Emil Kana from Hostyn, Texas played the French Horn with the Joe Toffel Band of Ammannsville, Texas and drums with The La Grange Texas Band during the 1920's. It was his grandfather's inspiration and coaching as he helped Alan learn and keep rhythm by tapping his foot on his rocking chair while Alan played for his grandparents! Alan accompanied his parent's, Bernard and Janie (Kana) Kristynik, at a very early age to dances in Praha, Nada, La Grange, El Campo, Hallettsville, Ammannsville and other towns in Fayette and Colorado Counties, recalling sitting on band stands listening to Czech polka's and waltz's while his parent's danced. Alan attended Rice Consolidated High School in Altair, Texas. During those 4 years, Alan was awarded No. 1 UIL Ratings/Metals while competing each year in trumpet solos. In 1976, Alan was the 1st Rice Consolidated High School Student selected into the National Future Farmer's America (FFA) Band. During a national audition in 1977, Alan was selected as a 1st trumpet player for the All Student's Group - USA Orchestra. The All Student's Group - USA toured and performed throughout Europe, including the highlight performance for Queen Elizabeth at Windsor Castle in England, her 25th Silver Jubilee as Queen of England. In 1978, Alan was selected as a trumpet player for the Wharton County Junior College (WCJC) Jazz Orchestra. That year, the WCJC Jazz Orchestra performed during the International Jazz Festival in Estes Park, Colorado, where WCJC Jazz Orchestra was awarded the 1st Gold Metal ever as a Junior College Jazz Orchestra. While attending St. Mary's University in 1981-1985, Alan was a trumpet player for St. Mary's University Jazz Orchestra. St. Mary's University Jazz Orchestra performed with Clarinet Great Woody Hermann and his Thundering Herd Jazz Orchestra and Trumpet Great Maynard Ferguson, during San Antonio's Fiesta Jazz Festivals.

In 1990, Alan married Lisa Longoria from Cuero, Texas. Alan and Lisa have two daughters Hilary and Hannah. The Kristynik's are members of Holy Family Catholic Church. Alan is a 4th Degree Member of the Knight's of Columbus Council #9088. Both Alan and Lisa are active in the Victoria Diocese's Catholic Engaged Encounter Program, preparing engaged couples for the sacrament of marriage.

Alan is a Senior Staff Consultant for Applied Integration Management based in Irvine, California. Alan specializes in Aerospace and Defense Program Management.
