CONFIRMATION TEST
A Comprehensive Confirmation Test for CCD students will be administered 
during CCD class.  A grade of 70 or better is required for a student to
pass this test. The entire test (with answers in bold & italics) is included
below and will be given to the students well in advance of the testing date(s).

COMPREHENSIVE CONFIRMATION TEST
(Each answer counts 1 point – a grade of 70 or better is required to pass)
EXAMPLE WITH ANSWERS SHOWN IN BOLD &  ITALICS.

1.       Print your name FIRST & LAST NAME.

2.       Write the Ten Commandments.
 1) I am the Lord your God, you shall not have strange gods before Me.

 2) You shall not take the Name of the Lord your God in vain.

 3) Remember to keep holy the Lord’s Day.

 4) Honor your father and mother.

 5) Do not kill.

 6) Do not commit adultery.

 7) Do not steal.

 8) Do not bear false witness against your neighbor.

 9) Do not covet your neighbor’s wife.

10) Do not covet your neighbor’s goods.    

 

3.       List the five Holy Days of Obligation in the United States & give their dates.

4.       The five precepts of the Catholic Church are as follows:

16.   God gave the Catholic Church the gift of infallibility which means that the constant teaching of the Church on matters of faith (what we believe) or morals (how we live), as contained in the deposit of divine revelation will be free from error.

17.   The most important gift given to Adam and Eve by God was sanctifying grace or Divine (God’s) Life, which is a share in His life.

21.   Sin is choosing to think, say, or do what we know offends God and what may also hurt ourselves or others.    The two kinds of actual sin are mortal sin and venial sin.

22.   Mortal sin is grievous or serious sin against the law of God.  It turns man away from God.

23.   Name the three conditions which make a sin mortal.
1)  It is seriously wrong.
2) You know it is seriously wrong.
3)  You do it anyway.

24.   A temptation is anything that makes us feel like choosing to do what we know is wrong.

25.   Conscience is your decision or judgment that something is right or wrong based upon your knowledge of God’s law and will and the teachings of the Catholic Church.

26.   God gave each person a free will which is the freedom and ability to choose either right or wrong.

27.   The Sacrament of  Baptism is the supernatural birth as a child of God, the beginning of a new life of God’s grace or God’s Life in us.

28.   Reconciliation or Confession is the Sacrament in which Jesus forgives our sins through a priest when we are sorry for them and confess them to a priest.

29.   The Holy Eucharist is both a Sacrament and a Sacrifice.

30.   The Holy Eucharist, as a Sacrament, is the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord, the living Jesus Christ.

35.   Transubstantiation is the change of the entire substance of bread and wine into the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus at the Consecration during Mass.  

36.   The highest form of worship is the Mass, which is the Sacrifice in which Christ through the ministry of the priest, offers Himself to God in an unbloody manner under the appearances of bread and wine.

37.   The two main parts of the Mass are the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

38.   State the three rules regarding the reception of Holy Communion.
1) You must believe that Jesus is really present in the Eucharist.
2) You must be free of mortal sin.
3) You must not eat or drink anything for one hour before receiving Holy Communion.  Water or medicine may be taken any time before Holy Communion.

39.   The four marks or characteristics by which we identify the true church today are as follows:  one, holy, catholic and apostolic.

40.   The Immaculate Conception is the special favor God gave the Blessed Virgin Mary by which she was free from original sin from the first moment in her life.

41.   We find the chief truths taught by Jesus through the Catholic Church in a prayer called the Apostles’ Creed.
