Confirmation Requirements
 
Weekly Mass attendance. 

REMEMBER:  All High School students (those in CCD and those attending STJ) who have not been confirmed should be signing in after each Weekend Mass they attend.  Look for the MASS SIGN IN Table in the Church foyer after all Masses.

If your student attends Mass at another Catholic Church, please have them bring that Church’s bulletin (write their name on the bulletin) to the box in the Education Building foyer or bring it to the next Mass they attend at Holy Family.  If you have any questions, call the CCD office at 573-5398.

Has reached at least 10th grade & attends CCD or STJ regularly. 

 Candidate has reached at least 10th grade AND has attended at least twenty-five CCD classes per year (i.e. no more than 2 absences per year) for the TWO preceding years or has attended Catholic school for the TWO preceding years .  Attendance at additional Retreats or Spiritual Exercises will be considered in evaluating attendance records if necessary.


 Baptismal Certificate (a copy) on file in the CCD office. 

Has chosen a Saint's name for Confirmation
 (this will be done in 10th grade CCD classes)         

 Has completed a Service Project either individually or as a Class Project
(this may be done individually or can  be done in 10th grade CCD classes) 
  Service Project Ideas

One Retreat or Spiritual Exercise completed
Dates and events will be discussed in 9th & 10th grade CCD classes
Retreats done as a class at STJ will be counted if the student is required to spend time that is outside the normal school day

 Is able to recite the following Prayers —  Our Father, Hail Mary, Doxology,  an Act of  Contrition and Apostles’ Creed  in satisfactory manner to a CCD or Catholic School Staff Member.  Follow this link for wording of the  Prayers.
 

Has scored at least a 70 on the required Confirmation Test or has at least a 70 average in High School Theology classes at STJ for three semesters preceding Confirmation.
The required test will be given in 10th grade CCD classes.  Students will be provided with the material (both questions and answers) that will be covered on the test on the in CCD classes well in advance of the testing date(s).  Follow this link for TEST MATERIAL.

BISHOP’S LETTER
After completing all the above requirements, they must write a letter to Bishop Fellhauer .  The letter should be addressed to the Most Reverend David Fellhauer and should tell him why Confirmation is important and why you want to be Confirmed. 
The letter will be discussed and written in CCD classes.  For STJ students, it should be placed in an envelope and turned into the CCD office or placed in the red box in the foyer of the Education Building.  DO NOT MAIL THE LETTER DIRECTLY TO THE BISHOP— The letters will be given to him as a group for each of the Confirmation classes.
