CLASS LENGTH
All grade levels and all classes last one hour. Sunday classes last from
6:30-7:30; the early session on Wednesday is from 5:30-6:30
and the late session is from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday
classes are held for special 10th grade only at 6:00 p.m.
to 7:00 p.m.
CLASS ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE
Please arrive no sooner than 15 minutes before class, and please be on
time for pick-up.
CLASS MEETING DATES ON CLASS SCHEDULE:
Please refer to the online CLASS SCHEDULE as it contains the
meeting dates for both
the Wednesday and Sunday classes.
REPORT CARDS
Given out twice during each semester.
Please sign and return the following week. Report cards are to be used
by the parents to determine their child's grasp of the material
presented in class and their child's conduct in class. If grades are
low and conduct in class needs improvement, please contact teacher so
the situation can be corrected.
THE FAITH AND LIFE SERIES:
Grades 1-8: The textbooks belong to the parish and will be returned at
the end of the year. Students are not to write in the textbooks, not
even their names, as the books will be assigned according to the number
found on the front of the book.
All grades will also given a Catechism Contest Booklet.
Please use these booklets at home with your child. Pope John Paul II
says that memorization of the words of Jesus, of the Ten Commandments,
and key doctrinal ideas is a real need. The students should have a clear
understanding of the memorized material, so it won't be merely reciting
words. We have the students for 1 hour per week only; therefore, your
assistance will be greatly appreciated.
FIRST COMMUNION/FIRST CONFESSION-- See link
above.
CONFIRMATION - See link above.
ATTENDANCE AWARDS--Attendance certificates will be
awarded to students who have no more than two absences (excused or
unexcused) for the year. Recognition plaques will be given to 5th
graders who had excellent attendance in the elementary grades, to 8th
graders who had perfect attendance in junior high, and to 12th graders
who had perfect attendance in high school. If you are a transfer student
and can submit proof from previous CCD programs stating that you had
perfect attendance until you transferred, you will also be eligible.
TARDINESS: PLEASE NOTE: Every third tardy will equal
one absence. A student will be counted tardy if he/she is not in the
classroom at the sound of the bell.
MASS ATTENDANCE: It has become increasingly obvious to
our CCD teachers that there are many parents who are faithful in sending
their children to CCD but who fail to take them to Mass on Sunday or
Saturday night. Celebrating Mass is the highest form of worship
Catholics have; therefore, missing Mass is a very serious sin. It
becomes most difficult because we realize that, in most cases, it is not
the child's fault.
It was Christ Who said, "Let the little ones
come to me." The message becomes stronger in Matt. 18:6: "It
would be better for anyone who leads astray one of these little ones who
believe in me, to be drowned by a millstone around his neck, in the
depths of the sea." Please return to a regular attendance to Mass
for you and your family.
